Egypt, Tailored for You.
Embark on our inaugural grand journeys
A few hours in port should never feel like a rush. Our private shore excursions take you from the ship to the heart of Egypt’s wonders with your own Egyptologist and driver, planned around your ship’s schedule so you can enjoy every moment.

25 years of expertise, tailored into your perfect journey.
You have spent months looking forward to this cruise, and Egypt may be the port you remember most. The Pyramids, the Sphinx, the great temples of the Nile and the old streets of Alexandria are all within reach of Egypt’s ports, but a day in port is short and the distances are real. Done badly, it means long queues, packed coaches and a lot of time looking out of a window.
Done well, it is one of the best days of your journey. Our shore excursions are private from the moment you step off the ship. Your driver meets you at the port, your Egyptologist guide takes you straight to the sights that matter most, and the day is paced around your ship’s all-aboard time, with time to eat well and to stand in front of a monument without a crowd pushing you along.
Browse the excursions below, then read the guide that follows. It explains which Egyptian ports lead to which sights, how much you can realistically see in a day, and how we plan the day around your ship.
Planned around your ship. We build the day around your arrival time and all-aboard time, with a safety margin for traffic and unexpected delays, so the day stays calm and the ship stays within reach.
Met at the port. Your driver is waiting as you disembark, and your private air-conditioned vehicle takes you directly to your first stop.
An Egyptologist beside you. A licensed guide who knows the history deeply and tells it well, in your language, at the speed you choose.
Skip the queues. We sequence the day to avoid the busiest hours where we can, and we arrange entrance tickets in advance so you spend your time at the sights rather than in line.
Comfortable and unhurried. Cool vehicle, cold water on board, a proper lunch at a place chosen for quality and ease, and enough time at each stop to enjoy it.
Built for you. Whether you are two people or a family of six, a first-time visitor or a returning traveller, the day is shaped around your interests and your group.

Note: Driving times and what is possible in one day depend on your ship’s schedule, traffic, and the season. We confirm exactly what works once we know your arrival and departure times. Cruise itineraries and ports of call change from season to season, so please check your cruise line’s current schedule.
Egypt’s Mediterranean city is easy to underestimate. A day here can take in the Roman theatre and Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, Pompey’s Pillar, the Citadel of Qaitbay on the seafront, and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, finishing with fresh seafood by the water. [Link to Alexandria & Mediterranean Coast category.]
For many cruise passengers, the Pyramids are the reason Egypt is on the itinerary. This is a long day, and it is well worth it. Your Egyptologist takes you to the Giza plateau and the Sphinx, and the day can be extended to include the Grand Egyptian Museum or the old quarters of Cairo, depending on your schedule. [Link to Cairo & Giza Tours category.]
The temples of Luxor offer a different Egypt: Karnak, Luxor Temple, and the monuments of the West Bank. It is a long drive each way, so the day is carefully planned to give you the best of it. [Link to Luxor & Upper Egypt category.]
For those who want sea and landscape rather than monuments, a private boat trip over the Red Sea’s coral reefs, a desert experience, or a visit to St. Catherine’s Monastery. [Link to Sinai & Sharm El Sheikh category.]
A day in port is short, and the honest answer is: choose less, and enjoy it more. We recommend one main destination and one or two highlights, rather than a race through everything. We will tell you plainly what fits in your time.
Share your ship’s name, arrival time, and all-aboard time when you enquire, and we build the day backwards from the moment you need to be back. Remember that the all-aboard time is usually earlier than the departure time, and we plan around the earlier one.
Excursions sold by the cruise line are convenient, but they typically run in larger groups on set schedules. A private excursion gives you your own pace, your own guide, and flexibility on timing and stops. Some cruise lines also have policies about independent excursions, so we recommend checking yours.
Entrance fees to sites can be included in your excursion, and we arrange them in advance. Entry requirements for Egypt vary by nationality, and some cruise passengers are covered by the ship’s arrangements, so please check the current rules with your cruise line and the official Egyptian authorities.
Light, breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, and a hat. Some sites ask for modest dress, so shoulders and knees covered is a good rule. Bring your passport or ship card as required by your cruise line, and a small bag for your essentials.
Lunch is part of the day, at a restaurant chosen for quality, comfort and speed of service. Let us know about vegetarian, halal, gluten-free or allergy needs in advance.
Tell us about ages, mobility and stamina, and we will adjust the pace, the stops and the walking distances.
October to April is the most comfortable for sightseeing. In the hotter months, we start early and build in cool breaks, particularly in Upper Egypt.
A day in port often leaves people wanting more. Many of our guests return for a longer stay, or extend their cruise with a few days before or after. A Cairo and Giza stay before embarkation, or a Nile cruise after disembarkation, makes the most of the journey.
Yes, from ports such as Alexandria, Port Said and Ain Sokhna, though it is a long day and works best with a full day in port. We will tell you honestly whether your schedule allows it.
We plan every excursion around your ship’s all-aboard time, with a safety margin built in. [Only keep a stronger guarantee if you can honour it in every case.]
Share any schedule change with us as soon as you know, and we adjust the plan. Timings are confirmed again closer to the date.
It depends on what you want. A private excursion offers your own pace, your own guide, and flexible stops. We recommend checking your cruise line’s policy on independent excursions.
